A neurologist deals with spinal injuries and brain disorders have you recently broken your back.

A neurologist is someone who specialises in nerves. Not sure why you would be losing your toenails though. That's kind of strange. I'm going to do some research on it now. lol. I have to see a neurologist and a neurosurgeon once a year to get scans and all kinds of crap and make sure no tumors are harming anything. I'll see if losing toenails has anything to do with the neuro stuff.

1. sounds painful
2. Could it have something to do with a vitamin deficiency of some sort?

I'd recommend seeing a pediatrist. I think that's the name for a person who specializes in footcare.

Angel is right, you would want a podiatrist. A neurologist only specializes in nerves, now if you were having pain of some sort in your toes then you'd see a neurologist because maybe the nerves could be out of wack in your foot but since you're just losing nails, your best bet is a podiatrist. Also check with your MD too because like the other post said you could be deficient in a vitamin or something.

Yes I did that's why I gave you that answer its fitting as neurologists deal with the effect of the brain's inability to send signals to paralysed limbs...I.E the level of sensation and or movement the patient has retained after the injury.

They do not look after the health of your feet.
